Hi, my name is Alex (or Alexander, if you prefer). I’m a lifelong practicing Catholic, an alumnus of Loyola Marymount, and an absolute fiend when it comes to talking about spiritual matters.
I started this blog for two reasons. First, I’ve always been keenly interested in talking about Scriptures, what it means to truly follow Christ, and what our relationship with the eternal and ever-loving God really means outside of pure theological discussions. It’s a side of myself I normally keep private (except for Mass on Sunday), but now I feel like I’m ready to talk about my journey in faith, and to share it with all of you reading this.
This brings me to my second reason. In today’s world, I find myself lost and frustrated. Not with God or with Jesus Christ, but with the Church and her place in the modern world. Between clergy sex abuse scandals, anti-LGBT rhetoric, and secular minds railing against anything that smacks of organized religion, it’s hard for someone like me to speak up. I am, in full admission, a bisexual Mexican-American geek with a pro-LGBT, pro-science progressive stance, but I am also a faithful Christian. I know people like me exist within the Church, and I want to use this space to give a voice to my experiences and my concerns.
Thank you for reading. I hope and pray that this online corner will remain a space for thoughtful discussion of ideas, both new and old, so long as I am able to maintain it.
